Data Collection by the State of Illinois

A. Personally Identifiable Information

 

For purposes of this notice, personally identifiable information (“PII”) means information that itself or in combination with other information,  makes it possible to identify a specific individual. 

B. What Data Does the State of Illinois Collect?

The State of Illinois may collect and retain data from visitors to state web pages, including data that may constitute PII.  The State may automatically collect data from web page visitors, including the following, for the purpose of providing website services:

  • Internet domain and Internet Protocol (IP) address;
  • Browser information and specific browser characteristics;
  • Computer operating system;
  • Time visited;
  • Webpages visited; and
  • Information downloaded. 

Individual State webpages may also request and collect additional information from web page visitors related to the services or benefits provided to the visitor, at the visitor’s election, such as physical addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, credit card information, bank account information, social security numbers, and other account numbers. 

C.      Use of Data Collected by The State.

Data collected by the State, whether automatically or provided by a web page visitor in response to a specific request, may be used by the State to provide, improve and secure State services both online and offline.  That data also may be used to improve the functioning of State of Illinois web pages and to improve the online user experience. 

Choice of Law

Construction of the disclaimers above and resolution of disputes thereof are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. The laws of the State of Illinois, U.S.A., shall apply to all uses of this data and this system.
