Governor Quinn Statement on the Passing of Carlos Hernandez Gomez

CHICAGO – January 18, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn issued the following statement:

"It is with great sadness that I extend my condolences to the family of Carlos Hernandez Gomez. I have had the honor of working with Carlos for many years. He was a talented journalist, a loving husband and good friend to us all.

Everyone who knew Carlos always respected his vigor, professionalism and personal integrity. He served as a role model as we watched him battle cancer with courage, tenacity and, above all, optimism. Illinois has lost one of its best. He will be deeply missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."
