Wounded Hero Receives FREE Tickets and First-Class Airfare to the Super Bowl!
(CHICAGO) - Today, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn presented Homefront Hero Awards to Brad Buell of Libertyville and American Airlines for donating two tickets and first-class airfare for wounded hero Army SGT Bryan Anderson of Rolling Meadows to attend Sunday's Super Bowl in Miami.
Quinn was joined by Steve McMichael of the legendary '85 Super Bowl Chicago Bears.
On October 23, 2005, the then 24-year old Army Spc. Bryan Anderson, was wounded by a roadside bomb while riding in his Humvee in Baghdad, Iraq. That day, Anderson became the fourth American servicemember to lose three limbs in the Iraq war. Anderson also suffered abdominal injuries and a collapsed lung. Recently promoted to Sergeant, Anderson has made an amazing recovery and will soon walk on artificial legs.
"Bryan Anderson is one of our nation's finest heroes and loyal to the Chicago Bears - the pride and joy of Illinois," said Quinn. "We want to thank all of those on the homefront who worked to make sure Bryan will experience first-hand what we all hope to be another historic moment in Bears history."
Brad Buell decided to donate the tickets to SGT Anderson after hearing about the Wounded Heroes Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to servicemembers injured in combat. American Airlines donated the tickets at no cost to SGT Anderson, who plans to attend the game with his twin brother Bob.
Bill Hood, Managing Director of Government Affairs for American Airlines, was also in attendance.
