Mason State Tree Nursery seedling sale begins Feb. 3
SPRINGFIELD - The Mason State Tree Nursery annual Spring seedlings sale begins on Monday, Feb. 3 and concludes in mid-May. The only State of Illinois-owned and operated tree nursery offers barefoot, native grass, pollinator and other seed packets for the public.
The seed is handpicked, cleaned and packaged by nursery staff. The nursery is neonicotinoid-free to protect pollinators.
Mason State Tree Nursery was established in the 1930s to supply tree seeding for Sand Ridge State Forest. The nursery has evolved and expanded to trees, native shrubs, prairie grasses, and wildflowers. Items are available for sale to the public to help the state's conservation efforts.
The nursery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mason State Tree Nursery is located at 17855 N. County Rd. 2400 E. in Topeka.
