Gov. Pritzker Announces Eleven Appointments to Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration
ILLINOIS STATE MEDICAL BOARD
Douglas Matzner will serve as a Member on the Illinois State Medical Board.* Matzner has served his community for over 40 years, emphasizing a holistic approach to wellness in his chiropractic practice. He is currently a member of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and he previously served on the Illinois Medical Licensing Board. He received his Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University and his Doctor of Chiropractic from the National University of Health Sciences.
Ratna Kanumury will serve as a Member on the Illinois State Medical Board.* Kanumury has provided primary care to underserved communities for twenty-five years, currently serving as a Primary Care Physician Assistant for Cook County Health. In her role she also serves as the Executive Director of Ambulatory Care and the System Director of APP Services. She is the 2020 recipient of the Carol Emmott Fellowship and Scholarship Award and has been recognized for her expertise as an Illinois Hospital Association Advanced Practice Leadership Panel Speaker. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Illinois Association of Physician Assistants, the American College of Health Care Executives and serves as a faculty member of Rush Medical School. Kanumury received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Medical Science from Emory University.
Mohammed Jameel will serve as a Member on the Illinois State Medical Board.* Jameel is currently a Physician with NorthShore University Health Systems. He previously attended to patients in need of urgent care first as a Physician and then as the Medical Director of AFC Urgent Care. Jameel received his Bachelor of Science from CKM College and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Deccan Medical School.
QUALITY CARE BOARD
Angela Hearts-Glass will continue to serve as a Member on the Quality Care Board.* Hearts-Glass has served on the Quality Care Board since October 2019. She currently serves as Deputy Chief of Investigations for the Civilian Office of Police Accountability where she manages and directs investigations of multiple investigative teams. Angela previously served as Director of Safety and Security at Malcom X College and as a Commander for the Evanston Police Department. Hearts-Glass earned a Bachler of Arts in Psychology and Master of Public Administration from Roosevelt University.
Nancy Sage will serve as a Member on the Quality Care Board.* Sage currently serves as the Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Springfield where she leads the Federation's operations. Her professional experience has spanned the public, private and non-profit sectors, having worked for the State of Illinois, Weiss Memorial Hospital and in retail management. She began her career in community-based programs for people with development disabilities where she worked on policy analysis, wrote rules for semi-independent living programs, and served as a weekend house parent in a group home for children with autism. She has also led campaigns and trainings within the State to ensure responsible service of alcohol in addition to serving as the Tobacco Use Prevention Program Manager for the Illinois Department of Public Health. Sage received her Bachelor of Arts from Ohio State University.
BLUE-RIBBON COMISSION ON TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING AND POLICY
Omer Osman will serve as a Member on the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Transportation Infrastructure Funding and Policy.* Osman is the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation and has over 30 years of experience in civil engineering and management at the Department. He previously served as Deputy Secretary for the Office of Project Implementation, the Director of Highways, Deputy Director of Region 5, and District 4 Project Implementation and Operations Engineer. Osman received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Southern University and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Bradley University.
Thomas Kotarac will serve as a Member on the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Transportation Infrastructure Funding and Policy.* Kotarac currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Transportation and Infrastructure for the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago. Previously, he served as the Deputy Executive Director of Policy and Programming for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, and prior to that he was a Senior Policy Advisory to Senator Dick Durbin. Kotarac was appointed by President Obama to Chair the Railroad Retirement Board in 2016, and he currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Metropolitan Planning Council's Transportation Committee and as a Member of the CMAP New Mobility Steering Committee. Kotarac received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois.
Romayne Brown will serve as a Member on the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Transportation Infrastructure Funding and Policy.* Brown is a Transit Manager with over 30 years of professional experience. She has served as the Chair of the Metra Board of Directors since September 2020, was Vice-Chairman from 2016-2020, and was first appointed to the board in 2013. Prior to joining Metra, Romayne worked at the Chicago Transit Authority from 1978-2010 including senior roles of Vice President, Director, and General Manager of Rail Operations. She is a member of the American Public Transportation Association and of the National Organization for Women Foundation.
ILLINOIS STATE MINING BOARD
Raymond Hood will serve as a Member on the State Mining Board. Hood has worked in the Illinois mining industry for 25 years in various management positions. He is currently a Compliance Supervisor for Peabody Coal Company. Raymond previously served as Superintendent and General Manager for White Oak Resources and a Mine Manager and a Faceboss for Peabody Coal Company, Exxon Mobil, and Consol. Hood also holds numerous mining certifications.
MID-AMERICA INTERMODAL AUTHORITY PORT DISTRICT BOARD
Henry "H.O." Brownback will continue to serve as a Member on the Mid-America Intermodal Authority Port District Board.* Brownback has served on the Mid-America Intermodal Authority Port District Board since 2011. He previously served as the Vice President and a Professor at Southwestern Illinois College where he taught and administered for 40 years. Brownback has served in a variety of public and private sector roles, including Chairman of the Board for West Central Bancshares Inc. and as Chairman of the Board of Cass County. He is currently a member of the Western Illinois Economic Development Authority. Brownback earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Illinois College and Master of Arts in History from the University of Illinois.
CONCEALED CARRY LICENSING REVIEW BOARD
Ralph Renno III will serve as a Member on the Concealed Carry Licensing Review Board.* Renno retired as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigations where he worked for over 30 years handling a wide range of cases regarding violations of Federal law. He previously worked as an Auditor and was a Certified Public Accountant. Renno earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Eastern Illinois University.
