Gov. Pritzker Announces Four Appointments to Boards and Councils

Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration:
 
CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD
 
Hipolito Roldán will serve as a member of the Capital Development Board.*
Roldán serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, a position in which he has overseen the development of over 4,300 affordable apartments and townhomes for families and elderly residents of Latino communities across Chicago. He previously served as Board Director for the Latino Policy Forum and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. In addition to this civic involvement, he was a Board Member of the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate and the National Museum of Puerto Rican Art and Culture. He was also awarded the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Roldán is a veteran of the United States Army, serving from September 1965 to September 1967. He was honorably discharged and was awarded the Bronze Star with V Device for combat duty in the Vietnam War. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Saint Francis College and a Master of Arts in Urban Studies from Long Island University.
 
CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL
 
Gabriel Foley will serve as a member of the Children and Family Services Advisory Council.*
Foley was an intern for the Statewide Youth Advisory Board, where he acted as a liaison between Youth in Care, a program regulated by the Illinois State Board of Education, and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Foley was awarded the Youth in College Scholarship by DCFS in 2019, and currently attends Bradley University, where he is studying Sociology. 
 
STATE BOARD OF HEALTH
 
Sameer Vohra will continue to serve as a member of the State Board of Health.* Dr. Vohra is a general pediatrician, Chair of the Department of Population Science and Policy and Associate Professor at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, and was previously a pediatric intern and resident at the University of Chicago for four years. He currently serves on the Medicaid Advisory Committee, the Illinois Children's Mental Health Partnership, and the Governor's Rural Affairs Council. Vohra is a board member of the Sangamon County Medical Society, the Springfield School District Foundation, the Chaddock Knowledge Center, the Partnership for Resilience, the Memorial Medical Center Community Benefit Committee, and the Centene Rural Health Advisory Board. He received a Fulbright Scholarship in 2009, is an alumnus of the Edgar Fellows Program, and was named a Presidential Leadership Scholar in 2020. Dr. Vohra received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in Human Culture and Law from Northwestern University, Medical Doctor and Juris Doctor degrees from Southern Illinois University, and a Master of Arts in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
 
John Herrmann will continue to serve as a member of the State Board of Health.* Herrmann is a clinical associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously, he was a senior clinical theriogenologist, partner and senior partner at the Cedarville Veterinary Medical Associates and Southland Veterinary Clinic. In 2003, he worked as an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow and Legislative Assistant at the Office of Senator Richard J. Durbin, where he advised on public health policy, prion diseases, medical devices, and dietary supplements. He was a member of the State Health Improvement Plan Task Force, and has served on Boards for the YMCA, the Freeport Public Library Foundation and United Way. Herrmann received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
