River City Roofing Company and Lumberyard Suppliers provided a new roof to Peoria Heights Veteran on Veterans Day

(Peoria, IL) ... River City Roofing Company and Lumberyard Suppliers of East Peoria provided a new roof to an Illinois Veteran today, this Veterans Day in Peoria Heights, Illinois.   Jerry Thompson of Peoria Heights is the veteran who is receiving this wonderful gift from River City Roofing and Lumberyard Suppliers of East Peoria.  Mr. Thompson was in the US Army and was medically discharged in 1978.

"It's honestly an honor to be able to watch all these guys volunteer their time and workmanship, as well as the appreciation from this man and his family," said Tim Garrison, Owner of River City Roofing.  "We had roofers from other companies show up today, and many other kind gestures and help from random people! For me, it's awesome to see how offering to help someone out, can have a ripple effect, and, it hopefully reassures many people that all Veterans are very appreciated in the Peoria Area," added Garrison.

This is the second year the Roofing company has provided a new roof for a Veteran.  Last year River City Roofing was contacted by Tracy Trueblood, a Veteran Service Officer for the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs.  Tim Garrison of the River City Roofing Company decided to assist a veteran last year and to make this an annual commitment.  Lumberyard Suppliers of East Peoria donated majority of the materials.  Crusens and Spotted Cow donated lunch for the crew.

The new roof was installed this Sunday morning, November 11, 2018.
