FREE ADMISSION, PARKING FOR OPENING NIGHT OF DU QUOIN STATE FAIR

DU QUOIN, IL - It's just more than 24 hours until the start of the 2018 Du Quoin State Fair!

New this year: admission and parking fees are waived on the opening night of the Du Quoin State Fair, Friday, August 24th. Fair officials encourage all of southern Illinois to check out the sights, sounds, and delicious concoctions that you can only find at the Du Quoin State Fair.

While the fair does not officially get underway until 5:30 p.m. when the ribbon cutting takes place, one and all are welcome to come and check out the grounds and get a lay of the land. It's also a great opportunity to choose the perfect spot to view the annual Twilight Parade.

Here are just a few highlights of Opening Night:

• Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Hayes Avenue
• Ribbing Cutting at 5:30 p.m. at Tru-Bilt Walk-In Plaza
• Twilight Parade at 6:00 p.m. inside the Fairgrounds
• High School Marching Band Contest during Twilight Parade
• FREE CONCERT by Chris Cavanaugh at 8:30 p.m. on the RollnUp Beer Tent Stage
