Governor Quinn Announces $1.6 Million for Construction Project in DeKalb County
DEKALB – Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $1.6 million for a road construction project in DeKalb County. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the project is part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.
“This project will improve traffic flow and safety along Route 64, which benefits everyone,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward.”
The project will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Illinois Route 64 will be resurfaced for 6.17 miles from just west of the Ogle County line to Clare Road. William Charles Construction Company, LLC of Loves Park was the lowest of five bidders at $1,697,554.
"After a hard winter, all our roads are in need of repair and travelers on Illinois Route 64 will certainly appreciate this step in the right direction," State Representative Bob Pritchard (R-Sycamore) said. "I'm glad to see we are using the stimulus dollars to create jobs and spur economic opportunity, especially here in northern Illinois."
The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
