Governor Quinn Announces $177,000 for Street Improvements in Creve Coeur
CREVE COEUR – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $177,000 for a construction project in Creve Coeur. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“This work will complete a project that is improving transportation in Creve Coeur,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”
The project will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Work will be completed on Highland Avenue from Thorncrest Avenue to Scenic Park Road, and on Groveland Avenue from Allyn Street to Eleanor Avenue in the Village of Creve Coeur. This involves new sidewalk, crosswalks, accessibility ramps, and new signs. Illinois Civil Contractors, Inc. of East Peoria was the lowest of three bidders at $177,039.
“Our roads and bridges are the backbone of our economy,” State Senator Dave Koehler (D-Peoria) said. “We need to keep them in good repair to support current employers and attract new businesses to Illinois.”
This project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
