Governor Quinn Announces $1.2 Million for Construction Project in Jo Daviess County

STOCKTON – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $1.2 million for a bridge replacement project in Jo Daviess County. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“This construction project will replace a flood-damaged bridge and improve transportation safety and efficiency in Jo Daviess County,” Governor Quinn said. “It will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

The flood-damaged bridge carrying County Highway 16 over Plum River about six miles south of Stockton will be replaced for $1,273,154 by Brandt Construction Co. of Milan, the lowest of five bidders. The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the project.

“It’s good to hear that work is under way to replace the damaged bridge on County Highway 16,” State Sen. Tim Bivins (R-Dixon) said. “Local residents depend on these roads on a daily basis and it is important to keep them in good shape.”

“Investing in infrastructure is vital to economic opportunities in Northwest Illinois,” State Rep. Jim Sacia (R-Pecatonica) said. “The plan to replace the flood-damaged bridge carrying County Highway 16 over Plum River will improve the quality of life for residents by making transportation safer, quicker and more efficient.”

This project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
