MOLINE – November 15, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today joined U.S. Senator Richard Durbin to announce that senior Obama Administration officials will consider plans to use the Thomson Correctional Center. Those plans could include a purchase of the facility by the Federal government.

PEORIA – November 12, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today signed legislation that provides a statebacked guarantee supporting construction of energy efficiency projects that will create jobs across Illinois. The backing expands a law Governor Quinn signed in July that created the same guarantee for renewable energy and clean coal projects in Illinois.

Governor Quinn Announces Comprehensive Agreement for CTA and Paratransit Fare Freeze
Agreement Will Aid Region’s Riders During Tough Economic Time
CHICAGO – November 11, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today announced an agreement with the Chicago region’s major transit agencies that will prevent fare increases for the Chicago Transit Authority and Pace paratransit services in 2010 and 2011. The agreement was made between the State of Illinois, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra and Pace.

CHICAGO – November 11, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today appointed a public interest attorney and an environmental policy professional to the board of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Joining the transit board is John Bouman, president of the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, and Katie McClain, Chicago City Director for the Clinton Climate Initiative of the William J. Clinton Foundation.

Construction Date Set for 200-Bed, LEED Silver Certified Facility
CHICAGO – November 10, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today announced the site of the Illinois Veterans’ Home at Chicago, a 200-bed facility that will begin construction in 2010. The $65 million project is part of the Illinois Jobs Now! capital plan, signed into law by Governor Quinn earlier this year.

Governor Pat Quinn has named Darryl Harris the state’s Director of Diversity Enhancement, a new position dedicated to improving statewide opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses, especially in construction programs. Harris previously served as the Deputy Director of Operations for the Capital Development Board (CDB).

ROCKFORD – November 9, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today visited Rock Valley College to announce the construction of a new Arts Instructional Center that will house classrooms, laboratories and an auditorium. The funding is part of the Illinois Jobs Now! capital plan, a program which will revive the state’s ailing economy by creating and retaining over 439,000 jobs over the next six years.

MIDLOTHIAN – November 3, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today attended a memorial in honor of Sgt. Christopher Abeyta at Bremen High School in Midlothian. Sgt. Abeyta and two other servicemembers were killed in action on March 15 when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device in Kot, Afghanistan.
